Abiemnhom County, Unity State
We've been able to assist 31,688 people with their food security and livelihood needs.
Approximately 85% of South Sudan’s population relies on farming, fishing, and herding for their livelihood. However, climate shocks, such as drought and intense flooding, are increasingly impacting these already vulnerable communities. To address this, we provide capacity training in agriculture, particularly targeting women, to help them become self-sufficient and empowered for the benefit of themselves and their families.
The ongoing conflict in Sudan has led to over 665,000 Sudanese refugees and South Sudanese returnees crossing key border points into South Sudan, straining humanitarian resources. With support from IOM’s Rapid Response Fund and USAID, we have recently provided seed and livelihood kits, as well as agricultural training, to those fleeing the conflict, local farmers, and vulnerable host communities in Abiemnhom County. This initiative aims to foster self-sustainability and economic empowerment.
Through this three-month rapid response project, we were able to assist 31,688 individuals with their food security and livelihood needs.
