Aweil North County, Northern Bahr El Ghazal State
In the past five years, 620,000 women, men, boys and girls, and counting, across South Sudan have been reached through our IMPOWER and Y-MOT programme.
Our Gender-Based Violence (GBV) protection program, known as IMPOWER, equips school-aged girls and women in the community with essential physical and verbal skills to protect themselves from violent assault. For school-aged boys and men in the community, we offer transformative mindset training, including positive masculinity and positive bystander intervention, through our Y-MOT (Your Moment of Truth) initiative. This training enables them to safely protect female family members and community members from violence.
Additionally, WART provides mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) to survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). We also conduct resource mapping to deliver targeted support to survivors.
Since January 2024, we have partnered with Concern Worldwide in Aweil North County, Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, to provide integrated protection training for health workers, nutrition workers, and hygiene promoters. This training helps them manage GBV cases effectively. WART also extends its IMPOWER and Y-MOT training to school pupils, ensuring they possess the skills to protect themselves from sexual violence and confidently support their families and communities.
Over the past five years, our IMPOWER and Y-MOT programs have reached over 620,000 women, men, boys, and girls across South Sudan, and our impact continues to grow.
