Ayod County, Jonglei State
We've so far Screened 3,757 acutely malnourished children and provided information on Nutrition and Food Security to over 7,391women and girls to overcome effects of malnutrition.
High levels of food insecurity and limited access to healthcare facilities in South Sudan place many children at risk of hunger, malnutrition and illness.
As the primary caregivers, the burden of food-insecurity caused by conflict and the increasing impact of climate-change is severely felt by women and girls in South Sudan; who strive to fight malnutrition.
However, this is often met with challenges including a lack of access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene, health services, as well as essential information and guidance on these topics. To ease womens’ burden, WART conducts screenings of acutely malnourished children; whilst also providing training and essential nutrition information to women and girls to overcome the effects of malnutrition.
Alongside UNICEF, we are currently working in Ayod County, managing the running of multiple health facilities; providing healthcare and nutrition services to communities. Within this remote area of the country, communities have limited access to such facilities due to their proximity to bomas (villages).
