Executive Director

Rose Abuk

Rose Abuk is a South Sudanese Child Protection Expert with a strong passion for empowering marginalized women and girls in South Sudan. She has been a prominent advocate for girls’ education and an end to child marriage. As a Youth and Family Case Manager in AngliCare – Australia, Rose provided trauma-informed, youth-focused case management, supporting marginalized youth and helping families maintain child protection safety plans.

Rose is a certified trainer on the IMPOWER program, which equips women with skills to handle situations of sexual assault. She has worked with various organizations including UN Women, UNFPA, UNDP, and others. Previously, she served as a GBV Program Manager at Women Agency for Resilience and Transformation (WART) and now leads as Executive Director, overseeing a team of over 100 full-time staff and 300 volunteers across South Sudan.

She holds a Diploma in Gender and Women Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science (Gender Studies) from Charles Sturt University, NSW Australia. Rose is part of the “She is the First” movement, advocating for equal opportunities for girls and women globally. She is also a member of the South Sudan Human Rights Defenders and South Sudan Women Networks, leading the WART Secretariat.
