Women Agency for Resilience and Transformation (WART)

AMOU ATHIAN

Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

Amou Athian serves as the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer for the Women Agency for Resilience and Transformation (WART). Before joining the organization in April 2024, Amou worked as an M&E Assistant in Kenya, where she monitored projects focused on Early Childhood Development, Youth Empowerment, and Women and Girls’ Empowerment. In this role, she provided M&E training to 21 partner organizations across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, covering proper reporting techniques and data collection methods. She also developed and implemented a data collection tool that resulted in a 65% improvement in partner reporting accuracy.

Amou’s experience includes empowering youth through leadership skills and economic empowerment programs for women, as well as initiatives aimed at keeping girls in school. She has also worked as a project assistant for a community-based organization (CBO) in Kenya’s informal settlements, focusing on girl child education, youth mentorship, and WASH programs. In this role, she trained over 2,000 girls on menstrual hygiene and sexual reproductive health rights (SRHR) to help them stay in school.

Currently, as the M&E Officer at WART, Amou is responsible for monitoring projects and developing and implementing a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation system. This system ensures effective tracking of programs and the creation of M&E plans for all projects and proposals across various regions in South Sudan, including Aweil North (NBeG), Ayod (Jonglei), Torit (EE), Juba (CE), Bentiu (Unity State), and Kapoeta North and Kapoeta East (EE). With over two years of experience in the development sector, she has been at the forefront of women-centered projects. Additionally, Amou is in the final stages of completing her Bachelor of Commerce degree from Strathmore University.
