Executive Director

Rose Abuk

Rose Abuk is a South Sudanese Child Protection Expert with a strong passion for empowering marginalized women and girls in South Sudan. She has been a prominent advocate for girls’ education and an end to child marriage. As a Youth and Family Case Manager in AngliCare – Australia, Rose provided trauma-informed, youth-focused case management, supporting marginalized youth and helping families maintain child protection safety plans.

Rose is a certified trainer on the IMPOWER program, which equips women with skills to handle situations of sexual assault. She has worked with various organizations including UN Women, UNFPA, UNDP, and others. Previously, she served as a GBV Program Manager at Women Agency for Resilience and Transformation (WART) and now leads as Executive Director, overseeing a team of over 100 full-time staff and 300 volunteers across South Sudan.

She holds a Diploma in Gender and Women Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science (Gender Studies) from Charles Sturt University, NSW Australia. Rose is part of the “She is the First” movement, advocating for equal opportunities for girls and women globally. She is also a member of the South Sudan Human Rights Defenders and South Sudan Women Networks, leading the WART Secretariat.

Dr. Beebwa Julius
Programs Manager

Dr. Beebwa Julius

Dr. Beebwa Julius serves as the Programs Manager at Women Agency for Resilience and Transformation (WART.) Julius is a public health specialist with extensive experience designing and implementing integrated Health, Nutrition, and WASH programs. He has led emergency response efforts, health systems strengthening, and community-based interventions, and contributed to developing national policies and strategies. He holds a Diploma in Project Planning and Management, along with certifications in Nutrition Policy and Disaster Management. Guided by the belief that “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall,” Dr. Julius is passionate about volunteering, mentoring young professionals, and promoting community development.

Human Resource Officer

Apet Asunta

Apet Asunta is a dedicated Human Resources Officer at WART, where she plays a key role in fostering an inclusive and purpose-driven organizational culture. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Diploma in Human Resource Management, Apet brings extensive expertise in personnel management, recruitment, and HR policy development. She is further distinguished by specialized training in PSEA, Child Safeguarding, and Labor Law compliance, all underscoring her commitment to empowering and valuing every team member.

Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning, and Accountability (MEAL) Manager

Pita Grace

Pita Grace serves as the Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning, and Accountability (MEAL) Manager at WART, where she applies over seven years of experience to create impactful MEAL frameworks, manage complex data sets, and facilitate crucial program learning. Her technical proficiency includes SPSS, STATA, KOBO, ODK, and DHIS2, supporting stringent quality assurance protocols for various projects. Pita earned a Bachelor’s in Business Computing from Uganda Christian University and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Monitoring and Evaluation, having also completed professional development in project design, theory of change, and proposal writing. Guided by her belief in collective strength “Two are better than one” she actively promotes teamwork and collaboration. Beyond her professional role, Pita is passionate about reading, mentoring young women, and staying abreast of the latest innovations in digital MEAL.

Magret Opiyo

Margaret Opiyo is the Area Coordinator for Unity State at WART, where she leads program implementation and community engagement initiatives. She holds a BA in Development Studies from Mount Kenya University and a Diploma in Project Management from the Kenya Institute of Management, with additional training in GBV case management, human rights-based approaches, and self-defense facilitation. Margaret is committed to community empowerment and is guided by the principle: “The brave do not live forever, but the cautious do not live at all.”

Business Development and Program Support Coordinator

Mike Eboko

Mike Eboko serves as Business Development and Program Support Coordinator at WART. Mike is an experienced development professional specializing in resource mobilization, donor engagement, and multi sectoral program design across South Sudan and East Africa. He has managed funding and partnerships with WFP, UN Women, UNESCO, UNMISS, and USAID.Mike’s expertise spans proposal development, grant writing, project planning, M&E, and procurement. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management and is pursuing a Master’s in Project Planning and Management. Passionate about community driven solutions, Mike is committed to impact, integrity, and continuous growth.

Susan Ikanga John
Field Coordinator – Eastern Equatoria (Torit/Roving)

Susan Ikanga John

Susan Ikanga John is an experienced field coordinator with expertise in child protection, general protection, information and communication technology, network installation, data management, and field program coordination. She holds a Certificate in Social Science (Social Work and Community Development) and a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology. She has also completed training in Child Protection Information Management Systems, project monitoring and evaluation, and data management. Guided by the belief that “The only impossible journey is the one you never begin,” Susan is passionate about making a positive impact.

Field Coordinator

Deng Gatliah

Deng Gatliah serves as the Field Coordinator for Jonglei State at WART, where he applies extensive expertise across critical areas including peacebuilding, transitional justice, education, protection, and GBV prevention. He holds a B.Sc. in Education (Physics and Mathematics) from Upper Nile University, providing a strong analytical framework for his work. Deng’s professional development includes key certifications such as GBV Visual Pocket Guide Master Trainer through CARE International, along with specialized training in Male Champion for Positive Change, transformational leadership, and conflict management. His unwavering dedication to humanitarian service is encapsulated by his conviction: “When you learn about injustice…you don’t choose this field, it chooses you.”
